The Portuguese Society of Immunology encourages the use of reliable sources of information regarding the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, namely the World Health Organization, and Direcção Geral de Saúde, and to follow the initiatives of Portuguese biomedical research institutes, some of which we list below:
Sociedade Portuguesa de Imonulogia, or SPI, is an active Immunology Society founded in 1973 by a small group of immunologists who felt the need to create a forum, dedicated to education, interaction and state of the art discussion in basic and clinical immunology.
MARIA DE SOUSA
Maria de Sousa was one of the first internationally acknowledged Portuguese scientists, responsible for revolutionary discoveries in the field of Immunology. Maria was elected as SPI president on two three-year periods (1982-1985; 1985-1988) and declared honorary member on 1999. Maria de Sousa’s outstanding legacy and dedication to Science extends through the world.
